State Inspections
The State of Texas requires an annual inspection for safety for all vehicles registered in the state. For vehicles registered in Collin County where we are located (and several other nearby urban counties), an annual emissions inspection is also required.
The emissions inspection is required for vehicles that are between 2 – 24 years old, or upon expiration of the initial two-year inspection sticker. Diesel vehicles are exempt from the annual state emissions inspection.
Our charge for a state inspection, including both safety and emissions, is $25.50. If your vehicle only requires the safety portion of inspection this can be completed for a fee of $7.00.
Once your vehicle passes the required inspection(s), the results are uploaded to the State’s vehicle inspection system. After that, generally within about 24 hours, you will be able to request the updated state inspection sticker to place on your windshield. Once complete, you’re good to go for another year!
If your vehicle should fail to pass the inspection you will still be charged for the inspection fee. However, once you complete the required maintenance or repairs (either at Honest-1 McKinney or somewhere else), you can bring the vehicle back to us for a re-inspection at no charge if completed within 2 weeks. If you go to another State Inspection location, you will be charged separately by that location.
By state law, we are unable to set appointments solely for the performance of a State Inspection. If you schedule an appointment to perform other services, you may request that a State Inspection also be performed during that service visit.
